Great video clip from CBS on how men in their 50′s may be the most romantic men available in the dating pool. The guest experts tried to explain this away by talking about declining testosterone, lack of family obligations, and less need to work for money in older men. Yet, does it matter the reason?
If you’re dating and looking to find the most romantic, loving man you can no matter his age, do you care why he’s romantic?
Men won’t question why they find a woman beautiful so why should women quibble over why a guy is so romantic?
Now unless the guy is some kind of alien impostor looking to kidnap you and take you back to Mars, why should you care if he’s kind and caring towards your needs?
Dating the animal within can be tricky business according to Dan and Jennifer!
I suppose we should applaud the guy mentioned by Dan and Jennifer for his courage to “come out of the stable” so to speak.
Yet, I can’t help but feel weird about this. This guy has a strange horse fetish that seams innocent given that no actual horses are involved. Eventually though he has to let the girl he’s dating know what he likes do. No doubt many a woman has been surprised or better yet floored by his fetish.
What would you do if you found out the eprson you were dating wasn’t what you thought he was?

I really don’t know. What’s for certain is that these men and women are putting good thoughts and feelings towards a better life while not compromising their standards.
The funny things is that if this story ran on an American television network, the headline would no doubt read: American Women Desperately Dating Towards Oblivion!!
There have been some interesting articles lately on the mindset of hiring managers. What exactly makes them choose you?
Well one thing they never choose is fear. Whether male or female these managers can smell the slightest hint of fear or desperation. If they detect that you’re trying too hard or a bit panicky, your chances of getting the job are zilch.
That begs the question of what signs you give to potential mates while dating? Do you look or appear desperate? Are you nervous and fidgety? Does the fact your biological clock is ticking appear too obvious?

I remember as a kid watching WC Fields and Mae West in My Little Chickadee and thinking it was hilarious. Of course anything with Fields is funny but looking back, it’s Mae West that really captures my imagination.
A new biography by Charlotte Chandler, She Always Knew How, details West’s life through her own eyes. Chandler got to interview her not long before she died in 1980.
The title refers to the fact that West always knew how to get exactly what she wanted from men. She just knew without being taught what made guys tick and used it to her advantage.
Showing that age should not be an impediment to any woman, West didn’t become a international sex symbol until she was 38 years old. She would continue to star in movies until the 1970′s well into her 80′s.
Dating and relationships at any age can be challenging, knowing what the other person wants would know doubt make it much easier. If Mae West were alive today, she would no doubt have her own dating show and have published multiple books on the subject.
The interesting point for me is how men and women view texting and emailing. While men view it as a quick and easy way to communicate while dating, women see it as far more important.
Women see it so much more different that they’ll save anything and everything that a guy will send them.
Men for their part will only save stuff in their inbox if it’s a picture!
The take home for your dating life is simple. Don’t take everything your guy says in his texts or emails so literally. Studies have shown that significant amounts of meaning are lost when only words are used. Funny how today’s technology while enhancing connectivity has actually lowered intimacy.
Ivanka Trump seems to be everywhere these days yet she still finds time for dating.
What I’m curious to know is does she chase or do men chase her? Does she prefer to chase or be chased?
I ask this becuase I am about to finish Dr. Patricia Allen’s great book, Getting to I Do
One of the many salient points that Dr. Allen brings up concerns women who prefer to chase or rather have to chase their man. Now there are men who love to be chased, albeit a small percentage but nonetheless they are there. problems occur for these women when they go chasing the 80% of men who prefer to do the chasing while dating.
Dr. Allen believes women who chase are more masculine while the men that prefer to be cahsed are more feminine. These men chasers are more bent on careers than their feminine counterparts according to Dr. Allen.
Looking on the outside one would think that Ivanka would prefer her man to saty home and raise the kids while she conquered the business world.
The bigger question is where does your heart lie? At home or in the kitchen? or is it that simple?
When I set out to write a book on relationships, I never thought I’d be writing about Donald Trump. I admire the man greatly but not for his success in long term relationships! No doubt he’s more the dating expert than I on many fronts, but I think I have a thing or two to teach him on what makes love last.
With that in mind, I thought I’d show some clips from the now infamous media brawl between The Donald and Rosie from a few years back. My book goes into greater detail and concerns what’s seen in the clips.
Marriage and dating the second time around is challenging on all fronts. Sociologist Andrew Cherlin of John Hopkins University says that compared to other countries, men and women from the US are twice as likely to seek a divorce as any other country. If you compare separation/divorce rates to the Italians, our rate is a whopping 7 times as high!
Chernin sights several factors:
More Americans live together before marriage which adds a higher risk of future breakup
American’s standards for happiness are much higher than any other country
Divorcees will tend to live with someone first before they get married. This may be why divorcees are much more likely to get divorced the second and third time.
Chernin’s only solution is to slow down the dating and courtship process.
I think Chernin’s solution while solid is a bit flawed. For instance, I would point out that American’s have already slowed the courting process down by marrying later and later yet this hasn’t worked.
My solution to this dilemma is as simple as it is challenging: learn how to communicate one on one, nose to nose, toes to toes while dating, before you get married!
These days there is a constant flow of new research on why men and women are attracted to one another. The research is enlightening in two ways:
It shows how little is really known about attraction
And how much our biology plays a part in our sexual chemistry.
One part of biology that is hard to deny is smell. Dr. Laura Berman spoke about this on Oprah recently and blew the lid off the the attraction of smell. It turns out that scientists think we are attracted to smells that indicate the relative state of our immune system. A person with a healthy immune system will smell better to someone of the opposite sex. This smell apparently is the beginning and end of attraction for many.
Dr Berman suggests while dating that you might want to sneak a smell of your man’s undershirt right after he’s just cleaned himself up. If he smells weird or funny, you might want to stop dating him!
