Sex Addiction?

When I clicked on the above link and saw that actor and X-Files star David Duchovny had checked into rehab, I had no idea it would be for sex addiction. Whenever I think Hollywood, I think drugs and alcohol not sex addiction. (From the outside looking in , you’d think they’re all addicted to sex)

Now when I think politicians I definitely think sex addiction ala Bill Clinton who admitted privately to being a sex addict. This coming from the guy who could redefine not only what sex is but what the definition of the word “is” is not withstanding. Some have even speculated that Bill secretly wanted Hillary to lose so that he could continue to play the field as freely as he’s been doing for the past 8 years.

Having seen family members become addicted to drugs and alcohol, I take those that suffer from any kind of addiction very seriously. It’s no laughing matter whether its pot, alcohol or even sex. Addicts ignore all else in favor of their addiction. They sell their souls in order to satisfy the beast inside them leaving many casualties in their wake.

The interesting thing about Duchovny’s addiction is that its a virtual addiction. He’s addicted to porn. I asked a friend what was meant by this, she said that men who become addicted to porn watch it for hours every day. They can’t get enough and everything else has to stop so that they can get their porn. My friend saw this first hand when she found out her ex-husband was watching hours of porn every day and not doing much else.

Some scientist would call this a mal-adaption of the reproductive machinery that keeps the human race alive. Satoshi Kanazawa refers to the Savana Principal in his book Why Beautiful People Have More Daughters when he describes the fact that men can’t distinguish between a picture of a naked woman and an actual woman. So when the male mind sees a naked woman, his mind automatically readies him to mate with that “woman” Some male minds go into overdrive and seem to never want to get out of that rush of adrenaline and testosterone that comes with real or virtual sexual encounters.
