I just got off the phone with a friend who’s at her wits end trying to get a job. It’s been 10 years since she had to seriously look and she can’t believe the extent that technology, namely websites have taken over the job search process. “The process is so impersonal. If I could just get somebody on the phone they’d hire me in a second!”
The funny thing is that the jobs she’s applying for all require a good deal of personal touch where she would have to talk in the flesh, one on one. Yet she’s being screened only by “key words” and how her resume looks on paper.
How can any company properly hire somebody this way?
I think the bigger question for your life, is how can you go about dating this way?
So how does this apply to dating?
Technology has made our lives so much easier that it’s easy to forget the way things were. It seems like just yesterday when I got my first cell phone some 12 years ago. Back then, you could only call with the cell phone and even then calls got dropped all the time.
Now we can call, text, email, listen to music, watch TV and who knows what else.
All of this would seem to make it easier to go out and date, meet that special someone and eventually get married and live happily ever after. Whether it’s old fashioned dating or online dating, technology has made it much more convenient on the surface.
